Original part

Procurement of the physical component

At the beginning of the process, of course, is the procurement of the physical component to be reproduced.

You can either provide us with the desired part, or we will be happy to take care of its procurement for you.

Nearly all vehicle components from the following areas can be reproduced:

  • Bodywork

  • Chassis

  • Trim/Exterior/Interior

A feasibility check is carried out by us before the start of the project.

3D digitization

Original part is digitized with a 3D scanner

Using our mobile handheld scanning system, we measure the surface of the scanned object with an accuracy of 0.020 + 0.060 mm/m.

In the process, we digitize the three-dimensional geometry of the component, generating digital point clouds (without wall thickness, etc.) as the foundation for subsequent surface reconstruction in CAD – commonly referred to as reverse engineering.

The digitization process is finalized with the editing and optimization of the scan data to ensure better downstream processing.

Reverse engineering

Component redesign in CAD

The scan data set (point cloud) is loaded into CAD and serves as the basis for our engineers to reverse-engineer the original surfaces with high accuracy.

During this reconstruction process, optimizations to the geometry or structure of the components can also be made to enhance functionality and durability.

If the component is to be manufactured later using a material different from the original, this is taken into account during the development process.

FEA simulation

Testing strength and functionality

After the component has been reconstructed, it undergoes a digital strength analysis or, in the case of systems, a kinematics simulation, if required, to, for example:

  • Analyze weaknesses of the original component

  • Validate optimizations

  • Test different materials and functionalities and simulate their durability

MANUFACTURING & QUALITY CONTROL

Production and QM of the redesigned component

After the completion of component development, manufacturing documentation (technical report and drawings) can be prepared. Depending on the manufacturing process, it may also be necessary to design and produce tools for mold making.

The following production methods are available:

  • Additive manufacturing (3D printing)

  • CNC machining

  • Deep drawing/forming processes

  • Casting processes

  • Fiber composites (CFRP, GFRP), and more

Additionally, we offer optional quality assurance services. This includes a false-color comparison of the reproduced component with the original part to check for tolerances.

We are also happy to assist you in preparing component certifications!

Reproduction of vintage car parts

Reproduce spare parts of classic cars true to the original through 3D digitization & reverse engineering

We reproduce worn-out, hard-to-find, or low-quality components from the following sectors:

  • Classic vehicles (cars, motorcycles, scooters, tractors, and more)

  • Mechanical engineering

  • Aircraft

  • Medical devices and equipment

As a certified vehicle developer, we have all the necessary technical resources at our disposal.

Additionally, components can be optimized in terms of their geometry and structure, making them more durable, among other improvements!
